Twin Towers from the East River, July 4th, 1992.
This was Bill Biggart’s final photograph. He was killed when the second World Trade tower collapsed on top of him. He was 53 years old.
As a photographer it’s always about getting “the shot” - the right angle, capturing the beauty even in devastation. Bill died for his art, his camera bag was found amongst the rubble and luckily his flash card was intact - showing 150 photos of the 9/11 site including one final shot (pictured above) before the second tower collapsed on top of him. He caught one final picture that one one else would ever catch, left behind as proof he existed. He was there. Til the very end.
You can view all 150 images from Bills camera here.
