Happy Rolling Stones Day!
It was fifty years ago today, Brian Jones taught the band to play. (Image courtesy of Retronaut).

I had a professor in college who attended the London School of Economics at the same time as Mick Jagger. Must have been ‘62 or ‘63, when Mick had decided to really focus on his music career.
My professor was on the “Events Committee” for the school, and they had booked The Stones to play on campus. The band was already blowing up by this point. A huge crowd gathered outside the doors of the building/auditorium where the show was to be played. Partly because they couldn’t get through the mass of people, and partly because they didn’t want to get mobbed by fans, the band needed to find another way in.
My professor directed them around the back of the building and helped the band crawl inside through a window, instruments and all.
His claim to fame.
He said they played a “great show.”
